Privacy Policy
Draft policy. Walk On Hoops has not launched yet, and this policy will be reviewed by a lawyer and updated before the app is publicly available.
Walk On Hoops helps basketball players see which courts are busy, check in, and play with their friends. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@walkonhoops.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, username, email address, and date of birth. We use your date of birth only to confirm you are 18 or older.
- Location: only with your permission, to show courts near you and to confirm you are at a court when you check in. We do not track your location in the background, and we never show other players where you are outside of a court check-in.
- Check-ins and plans: the courts you check in at or plan to visit, the times, and what you want to play.
- Profile details: your home courts and any profile settings you choose.
- Squad messages: messages you send in squad chats and "Need players" calls.
- Ratings and reports: sportsmanship and skill ratings you give and receive, and any reports you submit about other players.
- Court submissions: addresses, details, and photos you send when adding or correcting a court.
- Basic device and usage information: like app version, device type, and crash reports, so we can fix problems.
How we use it
- To run the app: show court activity, record check-ins, deliver squad messages and Need players alerts, and calculate ratings.
- To keep runs safe: review reports, look for abuse such as fake or revenge ratings, and enforce our rules.
- To verify courts that players submit before they appear on the map.
- To send account and safety notices, and app updates you opt in to.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
What other players can see
- Your username, profile photo if you add one, and sportsmanship score.
- That you are checked in at a court or planning to come, while that check-in or plan is active.
- Your home courts, if your privacy setting allows it. You can show them to everyone, friends only, or no one.
- Badges you have earned. Individual ratings are anonymous: players never see who rated them.
- Messages you send are visible to the members of that squad.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to host our database, store photos, send notifications, and show maps. They process information only to provide those services for us. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell or share your location data with advertisers.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time by emailing hello@walkonhoops.com from the email on your account. We may keep limited records when needed for safety, such as reports involving threats or violence, or to meet legal obligations.
18 and older
Walk On Hoops is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no system is completely secure. Use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will update the date at the top and let you know in the app.
